Genkyuen is the former daimyou garden located in the north-east of Hikone Castle. The lush trees and the castle tower of Hikone Castle in the background, Rinchikaku stands as if extending out to the large pond. There is a Houshoudai on top of an artificial mountain. This Houshoudai was used as a guest room to entertain VIPs from Hikone domain. The garden is filled with an atmosphere, with the skillful arrangement of a pond, rocks, and trees. It is designated as a national scenic spot along with Rakurakuen.

Commen pass with Hikone Castle: Adult 500yen, Children 200yen. Maccha (green tea) at Hosho-dai (9:00 ~16:00) 500yen
