Kippou-ji Temple

Kippouji-temple was being used as a training dojo when the founder of the Zen Soto sect, Dogen, moved from Kyoto in 1243. Dogen trained in this temple until he moved to Daibutsu-ji, the current site of Eihei-ji temple. Dogen compiled many volumes of Dogen's Shoubougenzou during his stay at Kippou-ji.
