Echizen Crab Museum

Fukui Prefecture Tannan Area

Visitors enter a dome made in the image of an Echizen crab. Then they come to an exhibition area where they can learn everything about the Echizen crab, an experiment zone, and an academic zone where they can explore the ecology of fish and shellfish. There is a three-layer vaulted diorama which features life 300 meters under the sea, a 3D theater, and a giant Echizen crab robot, which promises that visitors will have an interesting time. There is delicious crab and fresh local seafood dishes at the nearby restaurant.

From JR Takefu station, take a Fukutetsu Bus bound for Kareizaki. Get off at "Active House Echizen Mae"/ 40 minutes by car from Takefu or Sabae IC on Hokuriku Expressway
