Zuiryu-ji Temple

Toyama Prefecture Takaoka ・Himi Area

This great Soto sect temple is designated as a national treasure. It was founded as a family temple for Maeda Toshinaga and has an atmosphere of a great castle. The buildings such as the butsuden, houdou, and sanmon are designated as national treasures and soumon and daisadou are designated as important national cultural properties. The restoration work of five buildings including the sanmon was completed in March 1996. The temple has thus retained its dignity from 350 years ago when it was first opened.
