Jigokudani Monkey Park

Nagano Prefecture Hokushin Area

Jigokudani is a hot spring that is located in Yudanakashibu Hot Springs. Because the spring gushes out so dynamically, it is called Jigokudani ("the valley of hell"). There is a rare type of outdoor bath made of rocks where wild monkeys bathe. It is managed as a park. If you pay an entrance fee, you can observe the monkeys in the hot spring bath from a close distance.
