Manyo-no-Mori Park

Shizuoka Prefecture Hamamatsu Area

Manyoshu is the oldest collection of poems in Japan. It is said that it was compiled by Otomo no Yakamochi about 1,200 years ago. It has been read by many people. In Manyoshu, there are 4 poems which are about this Hamakita area ? this is very rare considering that this area was called the country in the east at the time. Manyo-no-Mori Park is suited to the green town of Hamakita very much. Based on various theories, the “Manyo-no-Mori” has been created. Visitors can come in touch with Manyo culture in an experiential manner through taking part in activities such as "Manyo plants dye" using manyo plants dyes, trying on "Manyo food" reproducing the meals in the time of Manyo.
