The large park ground of 150,000 square meters is filled with seasonal flowers and plants such as jingu-azaleas and asakuma-seven spring herbs. The temple belongs to Nanzanji school. This temple was built to protect the demon's gate (the quarter lying to the northeast of one's position, superstitiously believed to be an unlucky direction) of Ise Jingu Shrine so it is also called the inner temple of Ise Jingu. The main hall of the temple is designated as an important cultural property where one of the three great kokuzo-bosatsu (akasa-barbha bodhisattva) is enshrined.
