Nagoya Castle
Aichi Prefecture Nagoya area
The castle was established in 1612 as a residence for Yoshinao, a child of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Although the castle was completely burned down during the Second World War, the large and small castle towers (adorned with golden grampus on top of the buildings) were restored in 1959. These castle towers have been designated as museum-quality, and they are sometimes sent out to exhibitions. There is a famous scenic spot inside the castle grounds called Ninomaru Garden. Fees apply.
