Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens

Aichi Prefecture Nagoya area

[Zoo]: Higashiyama Zoo is the largest zoo in the Orient. Koala bears, which first arrived at the zoo in 1984, were an immediate hit. The zoo features a Natural Animal Hall where animals that originated in a different climate, such as the jungle or the desert, are housed together. [Botanical Gardens]: The Higashiyama Botanical Gardens are located on the other side of the zoo. There is a large greenhouse that was built in 1937, when the garden was opened. Also, there are houses that were built in the gassho-zukuri style and a samurai residence. There are also many gardens in various styles.
