Zenshou-ji Temple

Gifu Prefecture Hida・Takayama・Gero Area

This temple belongs to the Myoshin-ji school of the Rinzai sect. It was built during the Heian Period. In the temple, there is a garden named "Banzai-bora" which is said to have been designed by Souwa Kanamori. Also, there is a great Japanese cedar tree which is designated as a national natural treasure. The temple is also famous for its collection of calligraphic painting by Sesshu and Hakuin.
