Garyu Cherry Tree

The Garyu Cherry Tree is named because of the way that the trunk and branches spread out, making it look like a lying dragon. The tree is located in Garyu Park. It is an edohigan-zakura cherry tree and it is about 1,000 years old. It is 20 meters tall and 30 meters around the branches, and the root is 7.5 meters. It is designated as an national natural treasure. The Garyu Cherry Festival is held from the middle of April to the beginning of May. The Daido-ji temple next door houses a statue of Idaten and Kamegahira Ruins from the Jomon period..
